On the field, soccer star James Blake is pure poetry. Off the field? He’s pure trouble. When his fondness for fast women and bar brawls lands him a suspension from the game, he's prepared to take his punishment like a man. But since when does a suspension come with a live-in nanny? TV baking maven Belinda West is the epitome of home-made hospitality, on-screen and off. The personal is the professional when you're selling the good life, after all. But when her wedding day implodes in front of a live studio audience, Bel's career goes into a death spiral. She'll do anything to save it, even take charge of soccer's most famous bad boy. To hell with the morals clause in his contract; James isn't about to shape up for some knock-off Mary Poppins. But since when does Mary Poppins laugh like a naughty angel and smell like sugar cookies? He's not looking for love but that kiss of hers is practically perfect in every way. And James has a powerful taste for trouble.

(3.5 stars) When I read romance, it's usually the historical variety, but from time to time I like to read romances with characters living in the 21st century. So I pick out Kindle CRs that have lots of reviews with an average of 4.5 or more stars and that aren't too expensive. Unfortunately, most of these have not been written for my age group. In spite of the fact that I'm not a prude and like a bit of steam in romances, I find many CRs to be rather crude and vulgar. Perhaps that's the way people talk nowadays but there are too many 4-letter words and an emphasis on sex scenes instead of relationship development.

This CR from 2013, although not perfect, is a good read. For the first few chapters, I wasn't sure about it. None of the characters appealed to me. An uptight heroine who has strange priorities, even about love and marriage, and a hero and his two brothers who seem more like frat boys than leading-man material. But they all began to grow on me as, little by little, their backstories were revealed.

You have a little of everything here. There's a character with self-esteem issues and an alcohol problem, one who feels the need to always be in charge of protecting family and friends and keeping them happy, one who rejects love and family because of past issues, one who's a cold and manipulative Martha Stewart type (although much worse than I imagine Martha Stewart to be), one who's struggling to keep her life and that of an 8-year-old girl above water, and more.

Some of the situations here are unnaturally staged and somewhat unrealistic, but the general tone is good, the characters are likeable, the main romance is steamy with just a few toe-curling kissing scenes and one hot actual sex scene (scenes that are more tastefully done than similar scenes by other much more popular CR authors without sacrificing hotness), and I enjoyed the writing style of the author.

There's humor and romance here but there are serious and more angsty issues also. And hero James is a yummy gamma male who I fell in love with along with the heroine. I guess I'm giving this 4 stars because of him and because the writing is surprisingly good.

Belinda West has the perfect life. The perfect job. The perfect fiancée. Perfect manners. Until the jock next door convinces her fiancée to elope with her best friend the day of their wedding. On live TV.

James Blake is in the dog house. Granted it’s a mansion but he’s serving a six week suspension from his professional soccer team for slugging another player. His brothers are by his side as always and drinking is the #1 activity. Oh yeah, and women. When James asked Ford why he’s marrying someone he doesn’t love, he didn’t mean to break up a wedding.

Fired from her job, Bel’s only chance at redemption comes in the package named James Blake. He’s in trouble with his sponsors and needs a makeover. Can Bel teach him the manners of society?

This is a delicious romp through the tale of family. One with and one without. Their differing views of their family shaped their views on love. It was fun to watch these two worlds collide and the fireworks that ensued. Can’t wait to start on the second book!
Bel wants to keep her job. One has to wonder why, working for Kate is like working for Martha Stewart with a heavy dose of snark, but it's still what Bel wants. In order to do that she's got to tame down one (actually three) out of control guys with more collective issues than anyone should have to deal with. In the meantime, Bel has some dark issues of her own.
The fun in this book is seeing how the characters develop over the course of the book. It's nice to watch the guys grow from insecure, shallow womanizers or whatever their individual problems are, into great guys with some depth that you'd want to live next door to.
Of course the sexual tension between James and Bel is there from almost the very beginning, but it is well handled and intriguing to see how they work around it until they just can't do it anymore. While it adds some pleasant steam to the plot, it isn't a constant barrage of sex bombarding you every few pages and detracting from the story line.
While the story does not close entirely, since it's part of a series, it's not a frustrating cliffhanger designed to force you to buy the other two.
I read these sexy chick lit books like it's going out of style. I have never been failed by good ratings before. I am at 83% and i can't even finish. There is no draw to any of the blake brothers. There is no relating to the female lead. There is one very pg sexy scene. I am not invested in any of the characters. I don't get it. The writing is not bad, the lov3 story is just boring. This is the only book review i have ever written but it is also the only time i have been so let down by the other reviews. There are many better books in this genre, try Hold On in the Alexa Reed series or Loving Lawson or Beautiful Disaster anythibg else really. Sorry, i am sure the author is a very nice girl. (
Was such a good story until I was left in a lurch. I read many books that are in a series HOWEVER I do not like a story to bleed so much into the next in the series that the book you have been reading does not have closure. I am more than satisfied to go to the next book to learn more about a secondary charecter but forcing the next book to finish the last is poor form.
The story was so wonderful until I did not get closure and will not do the rest of the series due to that. Closure of each story is important.
No where in the blurb about this book did it indicate that there is anything sad in this story other than the aborted wedding. So I'm telling you ladies if you are soft hearted as I am, have a box of tissues ready. Not the saddest book I've ever read but better safe than sorry.

The plot is unique, storyline good, characters fairly well developed, not many twists and turns but surprising ending.

I can recommend this book but like one of the other reviewers, I do not like being forced to buy the next book in the series to find out the end of the current one; no matter how good the book. Therefore I will not be purchasing more books by this author.
